MJ Whittall is said to be the finest Anglo Persian Rugs produced from the 1930’s. This area rug is is a large 9×12 size, making it an ideal living room ,great room or estate library rug. The cream backing accompanied by a stunning Asian floral motif throughout, makes this rug extremely eye catching. This particular Wilton Rug is refereed to as “Birds of Paradise”, and is to this day their most popular design. The low wool pile is ideal for cleaning and the woven back side protects your floors. The back side is marked “Whittall Anglo Persian”, along with the original tag. You will find wear on each side of the woven hems, where frays and gone loose over time, as well as missing pile in small select areas as shown. There is a repaired “X” shaped hole which has been matted and backed with canvas to prevent any further tearing, a seam split is also shown in a small area of one of the hems. The rug has been cleaned and ready to lay in your estate!
