This style of Victorian Shelf is often refereed to as a Clock Shelf, which would have been more popular in European culture, especially German. The style carvings can easily be misrepresented as German Black Forest, although this Clock Shelf is turn of the 19th Century Victorian. The solid walnut construction is exceptionally sturdy and the finish is rich in age. Patina, surface scratches, minor chips and repairs can be noticed on this piece. Luckily, this is a piece you hang and admire and isn’t often handled. The middle lion’s head is heavily detailed and adds a nice depth of character. This piece could be screwed into the wall with 3 screws (wood screws are not included).
