This Apothecary Scale was expertly crafted by Sartorius Werke in Germany during the 1930’s. This scale is in full original condition and balances as it should with sheer precision. The five glass panes are original, the front pane slides up to access the scale within. The access door once operated off of a rope drawn pully. The rope has since broken off the door, although the pane slides up and down as it should. The frame of the scale is made of walnut with a drastic grain shown throughout. The scale sits on a ebony marble, there are no cracks or major wear shown to the stone. The scale within balances nicely, all micro adjustments work smoothly and as they should. The scale stands on adjustable brass feet, which levels to any surface its standing upon. Moderate wear to the finish is shown, including tarnishing to the metal scale cups, surface scratches to the wood finish and blemishes shown on the brass. This scale came out of Brooklyn College Department of Physics, it was very well maintained.
