Antique Regency Walnut Portable Lap Desk Writing Slope Box w/ Mother of Pearl Inlay

A Walnut Portable Lap Desk Writing Slope, United States, c.1910. The solid walnut construction is finished in a drastic burl veneer. The finish is deep, this was likely refinished throughout the years, but not recently. The Mother of Pearl inlay top shows a horse and floral motif, accented in a stunning black lacquer. The inside of the Lap Desk includes the original felted writing tops in a wine color, boarded with foliage accents. The middle of the writing tops have been poorly creased and since disconnected. If you do not latch the top writing surface, it will come apart. The box does not include a key, although it remains unlocked. Wear is shown from age which includes surface scratches, chips and finish blemishes.
