A Renaissance Revival Heavily Carved Oak Library Table, United States, c.1920. This table can be easily appreciated, its a great conversation piece. This piece can be used as either a library table or office desk, it has a finished back to display executives style. The solid oak shows a drastic quartersawn grain throughout accompanied by an aged deep finish. The finish likely is not original, but shows signs of age. Throughout, you’ll enjoy carved motifs including Lions heads, Northwind Faces and large Dolphin feet, it’s quite impressive. The table top shows wear, the top has a split down the middle, the spit isn’t all the way through and there isn’t any play in this area; This likely happened due to poor climate control throughout the tables life. A large water stain is also seen in one corner. Overall the piece is sturdy enough to use as is, although some joints are slightly loosen from age and has a slight wobble if you shake the piece. The piece has 1 large storage drawer, the drawer opens and closes as it should and is embellished with a Northwind Face pull. The piece is unsigned or marked.
