A Walnut Giraffe Sculpture by Val Robbins for Rimrock, United States, c.1950. This piece was crafted by Val Robbins at his Rimrock Pennsylvania Studio. Robbins was best known for his prominent minimalist style pieces in exotic hardwoods. While many of his sculptures were done showing pairs of nautical birds and figural designs – This piece shows a pair of Giraffes, it’s very unique for Robbins. This sculpture is crafted of solid walnut, it shows a drastic grain throughout, accompanied by a deep original satin finish. The finish is consistent with other Mid-Century Modern Furnishings and makes for the perfect staging piece. The sculpture stands on a styled walnut base which is finished in a black lacquer, it contrasts nicely. The underside is marked Rimrock.
