A Quartersawn Oak Side by Side Secretary Bookcase by Larkin, United States, c. Early 20th Century. This Side by Side would look exceptional while displayed in an array of interior styles. This piece is crafted of solid oak with a drastic grain shown throughout, accompanied by a deep finish. The transitional style shows stunning Arts & Crafts lines along with carved Victorian motifs, this was a unique style by Larkin, unlikely a catalog piece. The drop front secretary area is faced a raised panel motif and a brass escutcheon, there is a key include which locks all areas of the secretary. The secretary area opens and closes as it should and includes interior pigeon hole storage. The mirror upon top shows its original beveled glass without any cracks or chips, although mild hazing is shown from age. The bookcase side includes a full glass front entry door, along with two height adjustable shelves. An additional drawer and door for storage is shown below the secretary area. The backside of the piece is unsigned or marked.
