A Victorian Carved Mahogany Griffin Motif Savonarola Chair, United States, c. Late 19th Century. This Chair would look exceptional while displayed in an array of interior styles. The solid mahogany shows a drastic grain throughout accompanied by a deep finish. The Chairs traditional Savonarola design is complimented by a carved floral motif back rest, along with two heavily carved griffin heads along each side – It’s quite stunning. The arms are nicely sculpted, each ends with a carved foliage motif. The button tufted seat is permanently attached to the chair, it was recently professionally upholstered in a high quality pebbled vinyl – It has not been used since being upholstered. The underside of the Chair is unmarked or signed.
