A Japanese Elm Wood Tansu Cabinet Chest, Korea, c. Mid 20th Century. This Tansu Chest would look exceptional while displayed in an array of interior styles. The Tansu design chest is indigenous to Japan, the style is crafted for its size and easy mobility. The design was later reproduced in Korea with drastic elm wood veneers of the same quality. It’s size in a modern day interior would serve as an occasional piece, end table or even a coffee table. The face of the Chest shows a plethora of different sized drawers and doors. Each opens and closes as it should and is embellished with exposed brass hinges, pulls and ormolu. A brass fish lock with a key is included to lock any of the doors. The original Korean Export label is shown along the top corner.
