A Danish Modern Walnut Rope Folding Lounge Chair by Hans Wegner, Yugoslavia, c.1960. This Chair would look exceptional while displayed in a Mid-Century inspired interior. The solid walnut frame shows a drastic grain throughout, accompanied by an original satin finish. The finish pairs nicely with many Mid-Century designer pieces, ideal for staging. Wegner skillfully designed this chair for practicality in an interior. The hinged frame allows the chair to fold flat, despite the chairs sensational lines and curves. Wegner also added two hooks along the sides of the seat, this was to originally hang the chair on the wall, although they serve nicely as hand rests while seated. The original natural rush seat and backrest contrasts perfectly while paired with the walnut, it’s quite stunning. The underside of the chair is marked Yugoslavia.
