This Arts & Crafts Bookcase was crafted by Paine Furniture during the Early 20th Century. During the Turn of the Century, Paine Furniture was one of Americas leading fine furniture manufactures. Paine was most notably associated with heavily carved Renaissance Revival and Eastlake Victorian pieces, although they also produced limited Arts & Crafts Movement pieces. This bookcase is made of solid oak which shows a drastic quartersawn grain throughout. The double sliding doors leads you into a tremendous amount of storage space within, including three height adjustable wood shelves. The glass is original and does not show any major scratches, chips or cracks. Each door rolls inside of a wooden track; As you could guess, the doors don’t easily move around being this is wood on wood, although they open and close as they should. We do not have the original key to lock each door. The bookcase stands on its original antique caster wheels, these could easily be removed to your desire. You will find mild scratches, chips and finish blems to the piece, although it’s in very good condition and exceptionally sturdy.
