This Arts & Crafts Bookcase was crafted by Larkin during the Early 20th Century. Larkin was best known for producing the first “Side by Side” secretary bookcases during the Late 19th Century into the Turn of the Century. This bookcase is made of solid oak, showing a drastic quatersawn oak grain throughout. The double glass doors are accompanied by green stained glass panels, all of which are held together in a leaded frame. The stained glass contrasts off the piece nicely, remarkably none are cracked and are in original condition. The right door front is embellished with a brass escutcheon pull, it’s not original to the piece, although its true to its era (there is no key available to lock the doors). Each door opens and closes as it should and leads you into a tremendous amount of storage space, including four adjustable height oak shelves. The bookcase stands on its original caster wheels, which could be removed to your desire. This piece was professionally refinished at some point in the pieces life – It was very well done. This bookcase is exceptionally sturdy and heavy, you will notice mild wear throughout including surface scratches and minor chips. We’ve circled any notable wear shown in our photo gallery for reference.
