A Primitive Machinist Tool Chest, United States, c.1920. This solid wood Machinist Chest shows an aged black lacquer finish. The finish likely isn’t original, but close to it. In most areas, you can see the wood grain through the finish. The raised panel top is accompanied by a large iron latch, this latch would pair nicely with a large lock. The top opens and closes as it should, the hinges were replaced at some point. The inside is clean considering its age, without any holes or cracks shown. Black iron handles were added to this chest, they suit it well. This piece shows its age nicely, it has a lot of character – It’s overall in good condition. The underside if unsigned or marked.
