A Farmhouse Oak Willimantic Thread Spool Cabinet. United States, c. Early 20th Century. This Monumental Sized Spool Cabinet would look exceptional while displayed in an array of interior styles. The solid oak shows a drastic grain throughout, accompanied by an aged satin finish. The writing slope top includes a black surface which contrasts nicely, this area is hinged and opens to reveal open storage within – A small wood piece props the surface in place when opened. The styled backsplash shows a stunning carved medallion in the center, it’s accompanied by a pen rest and a hole which would have had an glass inkwell. The chest area still shows its original hand painted labels, although they’re heavily faded from age. Each drawer opens and closes as it should, the knobs aren’t original.
