A Rustic Lodge Carved Wood Birthing Chair with Stag Deer Legs, France, c. Early 20th Century. This Chair would look exceptional while on display in an array of interior styles. The solid wood chair is hand carved throughout, showing a drastic grain, accompanied by a deep finish. The wood is likely indigenous to Western Europe, it’s heavily aged with patina shown throughout. This style of Birthing Chair is unique for its kind, typically you’d find examples with thinner curved bottoms with seamless bottom handles – This piece is far more bulky and more suitable for a modernized seating. The Stag Deer taxidermy legs were added at some point during the Mid 20th Century, they’re a nice touch and compliments the piece nicely. The Chair is unsigned or marked.
