An absolute conversation piece and the nicer of its kind! This Late 19th Century Savonarola Chair is heavily carved throughout, displaying motif’s of Topless Mermaids, Northwind Faces, Devils and Lion Heads. Not only is it a pleasure to be seated in, it’s a great piece to look at. This particular piece is larger than most Savonarola Chairs that we’ve previously had, it really gives off a powerful appearance. This chair is crafted of solid walnut, with a deep grain throughout, the finish was most likely refinished at some point in the chairs life – Although not done in recent years, as some areas show light patina. The seat appears to have been reupholstered in the 50’s or 60’s, displaying a gold Art Nouveau pattern in velvet, very unique! The seat has lost some of its stuffing and has a hole on the bottom, we’d recommend repairing this if you choose to sit in it daily. There’s been repairs over the years, although nothing that compromises the chair structurally – It’s truly a gem! Wear is to be expected, and is highlighted in our photo gallery for reference.
