A Hepplewhite Traditional Walnut Knee Hole Writing Desk, c. Early 20th Century. This Writing Desk would look exceptional while displayed in an array of interior styles. The solid walnut shows a drastic grain throughout accompanied by a deep finish. The top surface offers a nice amount of surface space and is hinged to reveal storage within. Small double accessory drawers are found on each side of the piece. Each drawer opens and closes as it should and includes brass Hepplewhite style pulls which were added at a later date. The desk stands on four turned walnut legs which add nice character. This piece is unsigned or marked.
Condition:
This Desk was exceptionally well made, it’s both solid and sturdy. The piece was refinished at some point in its life, although it was not done in recent years. The hinged top surface was likely replaced with another walnut board as well as the hinges. The top is heavy and should always be supported when lifting up. The interior lock mechanism is missing from the top, there is no way to lock this area.
