A perfect conversation or show piece, would look exceptionally great in a retail space on display! This National Cash Register is absolutely monumental, and requires two people to move! The register is made of solid brass, and is heavily ornate throughout. We are unsure if the black lacquer paint is original to this Register, it appears this paint is extremely old. These Registers look amazing when refinished to a brass finish, it does show as if someone attempted to remove the paint in small select areas. The base of the register is crafted of solid oak with a drastic quartersawn grain. The wood was painted white at some point in the pieces life, and it does show a sanded area on the left of the base where someone began refinishing. The white marble block is removable, as well as the note paper dispenser, which still has a roll of paper inside! The register cranks, all of the levers operate and the cash drawer pops open. We’ve plugged this Register in and noticed smoke coming out of the back coil, we’re unsure if this register is overheating, or just burning off contaminates that made its way inside. This would make a nice project piece, or an ornamental show piece on display, unfortunately we can not guarantee that it’s working in perfect order as we don’t have enough experience in National Cash Registers.
