A Pre-Columbian Tribal Figural Carving in Rock. This Rock Carving was purchased from a Philadelphia’s Collectors Estate, which included an intensive catalog of Pre-Columbian artifacts. This solid rock carving shows what appears to be a man wearing ceremonial headdress. The rock is displayed on a solid wood pedestal, a rod which runs up the center of the pedestal goes into the bottom of the rock – It supports the weight nicely. The backside of the pedestal shows a small wax seal, likely an authentication or export mark.
