A Victorian Copper Griffin Motif Coat Rack, United States, c. Early 20th Century. This Coat Rack would look exceptional while displayed in an array of interior styles. The piece is crafted completely of copper, which was lacquered over many time in black. While the black lacquer is not original, it’s heavily aged. The seven coat hooks are nicely sculpted, each includes a bottom hook for hats or accessories. The top finial of the Coat Rack adds a nice touch. The base of the piece is drastic and shows a Griffin leg motif in heavy detail. Each leg includes a unique double umbrella (or cane) hook. This Coat Rack was out an estate owned by a socialite and listed artist, this piece was purchased in the United States and was moved to both Europe and Canada before making its way back to the U.S. The piece is unmarked or signed.
