This Victorian Bamboo Hall Tree from the Early 20th Century is truly a one of a kind piece! It adds an eclectic essence to any interior its displayed within – It’s absolutely unique. This particular Bamboo style is refereed to as “Tortoise Shell”, because of its unusual natural coloration and pattern. Tortoise Shell pieces are exceptionally hard to come by, most come from The United Kingdom and France. This particular piece was obtained from a socialites estate in New York, this estate housed some amazing pieces. The double mirror center is a nice touch, each displaying its original beveled glass. The glass is in great condition considering its age, without any cracks or chips. Surrounding the mirror is an array of bent bamboo motifs, along with five hanging areas for hats or accessories alike. The body of the piece was originally designed to hold umbrellas, although a fabricated tin tray sits upon this area, possibly for keys and small items. This metal tray is not attached to the piece, it can be lifted off at any time. The backside of the piece includes a metal wire hanger, since the bamboo is such a light material, we’d recommenced having the wire attached to a screw in the wall for extra support. Overall, this piece is in very nice condition with mild wear shown. Wear includes surface scratches from age.
