A Victorian Mahogany Savonarola Saddle Chair, United States, c.1920. This Chair shows exceptional details throughout, its a great example of the craftsmanship shown in Early 20th Century Victorian Mahogany Pieces. The heavily carved backrest shows an array of foliage and scrolled motifs as well as a Cherubs face upon top. The bentwood construction adds a great look from all angles and sits sturdy without any wobble. The chair was reupholstered during the Mid 20th Century. The upholstery used is of a very high quality and is in good condition, it contrasts nicely off the deep mahogany finish. The chair stands on heavily carved paw feet. The underside of the chair is unmarked or signed.
Condition:
This chair is in overall good condition, it was very well made and stands solid. Mild surface scratches can be seen as well as a small chip shown in the back rest. There is a small repair shown on the right arm of the chair. These areas are circled in our photo gallery to reference.
