Shelbyville was best known for crafting superior quality roll top desks, typically on the more extravagant side with many cubbies and hidden storage areas. The name Shelbyville speaks for its self, being an American classic out of Indiana. We are unsure what designer is attributed to this piece, it’s absolutely stunning and was marketed during the 1960’s – A very unusual style by Shelbyville, most of their pieces stay relatively traditional in style. It’s exotic walnut veneer shines great and shows a drastic grain throughout. The finished back is perfect to showcase this piece facing the middle of a room, or against the wall. You’ll notice wall rash on the back from the previous estate, where it was used against the wall. Each drawer is spacious and opens and closes as they should, the styled drawer pulls are stunning as well. Each side of the desk includes pull out writing surfaces, the left surface is missing its brass knob. This desk is exceptionally sturdy, and heavy in weight – very well made! As the desk is in very nice shape, you will notice mild wear from use, all of which is shown in our photo gallery.
