This remarkable piece was hand picked out of a collectors estate in Southern Pennsylvania. The piece dates between 1900-1920’s and shows an exceptional amount of details. For starters, the top plate is completely etched throughout, showing algorithmic patterns as well as Hares in various positions. Hares or Rabbits was a common motif in early Muslim pieces. The top plate also has a middle indention, which appears to an area to hold oils. The base, which is just as ornate, features detailed cranes on all sides. The middle of the base has a small cup area, which was believed to hold a small candle to heat the oil above. This could be a great piece for essential oils! Overall, the piece is in very nice shape and shows a fair amount of rich patina on the finish. The piece is solid cast metal, and shows minimal wear.
