A great piece to keep in a bedroom for additional storage! This Antique Blanket Chest is crafted of mahogany and shows a drastic grain throughout. With the push of a faux keyhole button, the top unlocks, and lifts up leading you into a tremendous amount of storage space. The inside is cedar lined, and is in great shape. It appears the top was not kept open much. You’ll find scratches, chips and blems on this piece throughout. 2 of the 4 claw feet have large chips missing, as well as veneer chips on each side. The front of the piece doesn’t suffer from as much damage, and the finish shines up great. Personally, I’d peel the rest of the veneer from the very bottom where it’s chipped, and i’d stain the hardwood underneath a similar color (for an easier fix). The piece overall is very structurally sound, heavy and sturdy! The front drawers are all faux, besides the very bottom, which functions as a regular pull out drawer. All drawers, including the faux ones, are embellished with traditional “bat wing” Chippendale style pulls, which have nicely aged.
